The Floating Bed A sense of hovering freely inspired cabinet maker Axel Wannberg to design The Floating Bed – a distinct bedroom piece in massive Swedish Pine. Pine wood is a beautiful and versatile material that can add warmth and character to any space. Pine is a strong and durable material that can withstand the test of time when properly treated and maintained. With the passage of time, the heartwood and sapwood of pine will age at varying speeds, creating eye-catching stripe patterns. Over the years, the color of the wood will gradually even out, transforming into a beautiful honey tone. Pine is also a sustainable choice, as it is a fast-growing tree species that can be harvested relatively quickly and replaced with new growth. Many pine forests are managed for sustainable harvesting, which means that the wood is harvested in a way that supports the health and growth of the forest ecosystem. Although our pine wood is renowned for being one of the toughest softwoods available, it is inevitable that it will develop dents and scratches over time. We encourage you to appreciate and cherish these endearing signs of aging Each piece of our raw material is carefully hand-selected for maximum quality, and due to the natural variation of wood, every product has its own unique grain, color, and pattern. At the end of the production the bed is treated with a white semi transparent hardwax oil to protect the wood and slow down the aging process. Wannberg’s artisanal focus works beyond mass production and industry design. The imperfections of each material are embraced, resulting in a series of furniture among which no piece is like the other.
