About the Item

The first comprehensive monograph on the daring, irreverent, and fantastical art of the Haas Brothers Step into a world where design meets art in the most audacious, subversive, and captivating ways. Haas Brothers: Uncanny Valley is the much-anticipated first monograph on the daring, irreverent, and fantastical art of Niki and Simon Haas. Known for their boundary-pushing creative practice, the duo work across the fields of art, craft, design, and technology with an approach that is at once conceptual, yet formal, and intellectual, yet playful. The book accompanies the first major touring mid-career retrospective devoted to the Haas Brothers at the Cranbrook Art Museum in Michigan in Fall 2025, and highlights more than 100 of their most iconic works, from almost ridiculous, conversation-starting furniture to cheeky life-size sculptures. Rich texts, including first-hand personal stories from the brothers and an interview by avant-garde mother-daughter artists Lita and Isabelle Albuquerque, complement the book’s vivid imagery. Featuring a padded, hot pink cover, Haas Brothers: Uncanny Valley proves these iconoclastic visionaries are two of the most exciting and innovative figures in contemporary art and design.

Post Human

Post Human

A renewed examination of Jeffrey Deitch’s pivotal exhibition Originally exhibited in 1992, Jeffrey Deitch’s groundbreaking exhibition Post Human brought together the work of thirty-six young artists interested in new frontiers of body and identity transformation. The prescient exhibition, which traveled to five international venues, introduced the art world to posthumanism - how the human body continues to merge with and diverge from technology. Both the show and it catalogue, which featured a unique visual essay and innovative design, helped set the agenda for art discourse in the 1990s. More than thirty years later, Deitch revitalized Post Human at his Los Angeles gallery, bringing the themes of the original back to the present. The show’s 2024 iteration presented several key figures who participated in the original exhibition in dialogue with emerging contemporary artists whose boundary-pushing work explores how these themes, particularly recent forms of technology such as AI, have evolved over the course of the twenty-first century. This timely publication revisits artworks from both iterations of the show. Readers will discover color photography of the featured works, along with Deitch’s iconic visual essay from the original catalogue and text contributions from contemporary philosopher Rosi Braidotti and critic Philippa Snow. Together, they form a printed testament to the show’s indelible impact and Deitch’s everlasting influence on the art world. Featured artists include: Isabelle Albuquerque, Matthew Barney, Ivana Bašić, Frank Benson, Ashley Bickerton, Maurizio Cattelan, Chris Cunningham, John Currin, Alex Da Corte, Olivia Erlanger, Jana Euler, Rachel Feinstein, Urs Fischer, Pippa Garner, Robert Gober, Hugh Hayden, Damien Hirst, Tishan Hsu, Pierre Huyghe, Anne Imhof, Alex Israel, Arthur Jafa, Jamian Juliano-Villani, Mike Kelley, Josh Kline, Jeff Koons, Paul McCarthy, Sam McKinniss, Mariko Mori...

Discover 500 of the world’s greatest graphic designs in one big, bold, and brilliant volume This deep dive into graphic design history presents the work of more than 400 designers across 33 countries and 5 continents, with work dating back to the 14th century. Reimagined from the Phaidon best-seller Graphic: 500 Designs that Matter, the book’s dizzying array of designs range from the Gutenberg Bible to Joy Division album art, with work by both anonymous creators and industry icons such as Aleksandr Rodchenko, Paul Rand, Paula Scher, Ahn Sang-soo, and Julia Born. The generous format and two-part design structure allows designs to be shown in detail, with large images up front and a 300+ word text for each entry in the back – making this equal parts picture and reading book. A design category key adds functionality while indicating the sheer variety of disciplines at work within one medium, from advertising and information design to posters, books, magazines, and logos. This book is the perfect reference guide for design and art lovers, enthusiasts, and professionals at any stage of their careers, as well as all those interested in and impacted by visual communication. Carefully revised to bring every detail up to date, organized chronologically, and with the addition of 50 new examples that highlight designers reshaping the graphic culture of today, this collection is more comprehensive, compelling – and relevant – than ever before. Featured designers include: Reza Abedini, Otl Aicher, Herbert Bayer, Max Bill, Laurenz Brunner, A. M. Cassandre, Joseph Churchward, Alan Fletcher, Federica Fragapane, Graphic Thought Facility, Béla Horovitz, Eric Hu, Shira Inbar, Tibor Kalman, Amos Paul Kennedy, Jr., Frith Kerr and Amelia Noble, Anita Klinz, El Lissitzky, George Lois, Karel Martens, Bruno Munari, Nontsikelelo Mutiti, Hassan Rahim, Aleksandr Rodchenko, Stefan Sagmeister, Koichi Sato...
