This matching 18-karat yellow and white gold and diamond engagement ring set was made by the renowned British jeweler, John Donald, who's creations are owned by such notable individuals as Princess Margaret and the Queen Mother in addition to having his works in the collections of several European museums. John Donald's highly revolutionary style and goldsmith techniques work to create a sense of brutalist modernism using both form and texture, which are reflected in this set. The bands of both rings are done in one of the signature styles of John Donald, utilizing the cube in various configurations to create a modern, brutalist appearance with the various shapes and textures utilized. Many of the gold blocks that each ring is composed of are engraved, adding to the textural feel of each piece, and the set. The central stone of the engagement ring is a claw set pink tourmaline with a slightly included clarity rating and color rating of medium to moderately strong in a purplish red and good cut. Surrounding this pink gem stone are five claw set and brilliant cut diamonds with a clarity rating ranging from S1-1 to S1-2 and a color rating of G-H and a good cut. The stones weights are estimations given the setting and hence, the tourmaline is approximately .76-carat. and the combined .weight of the five diamonds is .63-carat. Both rings are marked with John Donald's signature of "JAD" in very small block letters, and the impressed gold markings for 18-karat. The set comes with its original vintage velvet box denoting that the set was produced at John Donald's 'Cheapside' location in the Victorian jewelry district of London, England. These very unique and impressive rings are approximately size 5 or slightly smaller.
