About the Item

This exceptional, fine and impressive antique 18th century miniature silver samovar/coffee urn has a circular baluster shaped form. The body of this Dutch silver samovar is plain and unembellished, with an applied border to the upper rim. This antique silver samovar is fitted with a push fit domed cover surmounted with a cast silver baluster shaped finial. The samovar is fitted with a fine and impressive cast S scrolling handle. This exceptional miniature silver samovar/coffee urn features a cast spigot and tap design to the anterior surface. This exceptional example of miniature antiquities surmounts three simplified hoof style feet. The hallmarks struck to the underside of this Dutch silver samovar include: National mark: Crowned shield with three Andrew crosses (Amsterdam, minimum of .875 standard) Date letter: L (1722) Tax mark: Crowned V Maker's mark: Untraced Such period miniature examples of this substantial gauge of silver and quality are rare to the market. This exceptional samovar has been crafted in the same style and period as the teapot (C7900) and tea kettle (C7901); they would sit very well together as a composite set. Maker: Unknown Condition This 18th century Dutch samovar is a superior gauge of silver and superior quality. The miniature silver samovar/coffee urn is in exceptional condition. The Dutch hallmarks to the underside of the samovar are all very clear. Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this example of Dutch silverware.
