A very elegant 19th century antique French Sèvres cobalt blue porcelain & ormolu mounted urn shaped eight day mantel clock circa 1875, the clock stamped "Japy Frères", the porcelain hand-painted and signed by Georges Emile Poitevin (1820-1886).
The body having a classic baluster urn shaped body, finished in a deep cobalt blue glaze and highlighted with intricate gilded scrolling borders. The clock with hand-painted Panels, the panel to the front with a courting couple in 18th century dress and to the rear an architectural scene with a staircase and an arched bridge, the clock is signed "G. Poitevin" to the front panel.
The clock dial is gilded and has black Roman numerals, with twin winding arbors for the time and strike, the clock rings...
