This is a vintage cased library telescope. An English, brass 'Starboy' astronomical mounted refractor by Broadhurst, Clarkson & Co, dating to the early 20th century, circa 1930. Perfect for bird watching, landscape appreciation, wildlife stalking, or maritime observation. Equally suitable for observing the night sky. Presents consistent golden colour throughout with a desirable, gently aged patina Original primary barrel in good order with light markings under close inspection Striking brass brightwork presented in eye-catching, original order By the renowned Broadhurst, Clarkson and Co. of London Primary objective shows some light spotting, but has no impairment to the image Generously sized, the objective has a bright, 3'' diameter (7.5cm) Single draw tube extends smoothly, focused by knurled wheel moving an internal rack and pinion Maker's mark to the rear collar; Broadhurst, Clarkson and Co. 63 Farringdon Road London Supplied with a two accessory eye cups and fascinating ephemera in the form of correspondence Attaches to the cast iron tripod with two brass turn screws and rotates through 90 degrees fore and aft This is a fascinating vintage library telescope, an early 20th century example of Broadhurst, Clarkson & Co's Starboy line of astronomical mounted scopes.
