About the Item

This is a fine quality German tin clockwork toy made by the well known toy maker The Karl Arnold Toy Company established in Nuremburg, Germany in 1906. This toy was made immediately after the war, around 1947, in Germany (U.S. Zone and appropriately marked on the underneath of the chassis---see images). Entitled "Bobby The Monkey On A Tricycle" the toy operates by inserting the enclosed clockwork key into the protruding keywind in a clockwise direction and releasing the toy on the ground. The monkey rides the tricycle around in a circle while pumping is legs while trying to steer with his arms, while his ears flop back and forth (one or both of these are almost always missing). This fine quality toy is in excellent and completely all original condition; it is very well made with great attention to detail and works perfectly (see attached video); there are no repairs, repaint, or touch-up, of any kind. There are no losses or missing parts or replaced pieces. The lithography is completely intact with colors of blue, red, white and grey just as it appeared originally; rarely found in the condition. Original patent information and markings appear on the underneath. This is a great addition for discerning toy collectors or for decoration as a stand alone representative of a genuine vintage fine quality German World War II tin wind up toy. Dimensions: 4" high x 3 1/2" long x 2 1/2" wide Provenance: From my own 45 year old collection of fine quality toys Note: After 40 plus years of dealing and collecting toys, I am justly qualified to guarantee and present the authenticity of antique and vintage toys and children's playthings; important considering the fakes and reproductions in the marketplace. I thoroughly examine with a loop and a black light all of my toys that I offer for sale and I guarantee them to be as I have described. it would behoove an enterprising collector, dealer, or decorator to take advantage of the opportunity to buy as many of the vintage tin toys that I have listed for sale; it would create an immediate quality collection, as most of these toys came, either from a long time premium California collection or from my own shelves. It would take quite some time and effort to accumulate toys this clean, authentic, original, operable and in excellent condition.
