Vintage French Aubusson Runner, Hand-Knotted Wool, Floral Design, 4' x 13'

Vintage French Aubusson Runner, Hand-Knotted Wool, Floral Design, 4' x 13'

Located in Barrington, IL

This elegant Vintage French Aubusson Runner, dating to the early 1900s. Expertly hand-knotted, this exceptional runner features a timeless floral design set against a vibrant rich red background, creating a striking visual statement ideal for hallways, galleries, or transitional spaces. The composition is beautifully structured with three vertical columns of floral motifs, each set within a warm saffron yellow field, and separated by deep red columns adorned with intricate botanical designs. This rhythmic layout adds both symmetry and movement, enhancing the runner’s decorative appeal and versatility. Inspired by the celebrated “Gol Farang” (foreign flower) patterns found in Persian rugs, as well as the grandeur of traditional Aubusson and Savonnerie carpets, this piece represents a unique fusion of French and Persian design influences. The palette is richly layered with turquoise, soft pink, ivory, yellow, and blue accents, all achieved through high-quality dyes that have aged gracefully over time.
