Antique French pillow - throw cushion with incredible detailed floral design and texture. Style: Antique, Flemish, French, Renaissance, Celtic, Medieval 19th century needlepoint and metallic thread throw cushion Made of genuine hand crafted wool. Colors: Brown, Cream, Rose, green, yellow and cream. The cushion display an intricate needlepoint design on handwoven canvas The fabulous colors combined and woven into this piece work together creating a refined and solid look. Depicting central an ornamental cream colored medaillon with a tree and 4 doves, bordered with a contrasted brown and floral design. Gold metallic thread trimmed with in each corner a metallic thread knot and tassel. The cushion is silk backed, down filled. Condition: Good solid condition Origin: France The roots of needlepoint goes back thousands of years to the ancient Egyptians. The oldest needlepoint known dates back around 1500 BC Tapestry is mostly done on a larger scale, while needlepoint items are usually smaller. Both needlepoint and tapestry can be made using various materials, amongst wool, silk, and cotton thread. Width 20.8in - 53cm Height 15.7in - 40cm Depth 5.9in - 15cm
