Hand-knotted in wool, this 9x10 contemporary rug is the latest addition to Rug & Kilim’s coveted Modern Collection. On the Design: Rich brown tones underscore this all over pattern, in which keen eyes will admire a wide range of bright hues in the stripes, even pastels—a fabulous use of juxtaposition and an almost positive-negative element from the natural boldness of such bright tones against a dark background. Keen eyed connoisseurs will note a subtle inspiration from Moroccan rugs as seen in tribal rugs of the Berber primitivist provenance that favor an all over pattern of wavy stripes. However, this is a more contemporary rendition of that sensibility. This piece is an immersive masterpiece in contemporary rugs, full of expression, life, and movement and would sit beautifully in a variety of spaces.
