Vintage Baluch Tribal Area Rug, Handwoven Wool, Geometric Design
Located in Barrington, IL
This early 20th-century vintage Baluch tribal area rug features an allover geometric design woven in a striking palette of deep navy blue, dark red, and natural camel tones. Originating from the Baluch tribes of southeastern Persia and western Afghanistan, this rug is a superb example of tribal weaving heritage. Crafted with exceptionally soft, lustrous wool, the rug’s subtle shimmer enhances its visual richness under natural or ambient light. The meticulously woven field is framed by four distinct borders, each filled with traditional tribal motifs that balance the bold geometry of the central pattern. The ends of the rug are finished with finely woven kilim—a signature of authentic Baluch craftsmanship—adding further texture and artisanal detail. Dimensions: 4’ x 6’ 8” Date of Manufacture: 1st Quarter of the 1900s Place of Origin: Afghanistan Material: Wool pile on a wool foundation with vegetable dyes Condition: Wear consistent with age and use The Persian Knot Gallery, SKU: 1054 Baluch Tribal Rugs, Antique Tribal Weaving, Antique Wall Textiles, Afghan Tribal Bags, Turkmen Rugs, Tribal Weaving, Central Asian Bags, Antique Turkmen Chuval Rugs...
