Made with hand-knotted wool, this 8x10 rug is an exciting new addition to the pile line of Rug & Kilim’s Scandinavian rug collection—a contemporary reimagining of Swedish minimalism and vintage rugs and textiles of Rollakan and Rya traditions. On the Design: Students of design history may know these patterns are a minimalist reimagining of Turkish, Persian, and similar Oriental provenances with a tribal sensibility—one of the many bold, inventive elements of this movement that recaptured the look of primitivist, old-world Greek Key patterns like those alluded to in this design. This homage to Swedish rugs features geometric patterns composed of small meanders and square blocks in green, pink, gold, beige and cream tones with gentle variations born of the intricate weaving style inherent to this collection. Admirers of the craft will appreciate this proprietary technique of ours that both innovates and honors mid-century weaving techniques inherent to Scandinavian style.
