Showcasing a bold expressive design, incredible detail and texture, this hand knotted wool vintage Berber Beni M'Guild Moroccan rug is a captivating vision of woven beauty. The eye-catching diamond trellis and warm colors woven into this vintage Moroccan rug work together creating a truly unique look. The abrashed field features an all-over lozenge lattice composed of latch hooked lines and concentric diamonds decorated with cross motifs, eight point stars, and ambiguous tribal symbols surrounded by a series of lines creating an expansion effect, adding visual interest and depth. Historical richness and full of Ancient Berber symbolism, this vintage Beni M'Guild rug features traditional symbols of protection and femininity in the central area while the borders along the vertical sides traditionally represent the male's presence. In Moroccan rugs, male motifs often appear on the outer portions of the composition, framing and enclosing the female motifs. This presentation can be seen as symbolizing fertility, as well as protection and the sanctuary of the family. Rendered in variegated shades of coffee, brown, red, orange, eggplant, charcoal, tangerine, taupe, tan, and beige with other accent colors.
