The eye-catching diamond trellis and lively colors woven into this vintage Moroccan rug work together creating a truly unique look. The abrashed purple field features an all-over lozenge lattice composed of chevron lines decorated with concentric diamonds, fused triangles, V-shapes, and ambiguous tribal symbols, adding visual interest and depth. It is enclosed with a repeating compartment lozenge border giving it a sense of order and definition. Historical richness and full of Ancient Berber symbolism, this vintage Zayane rug features traditional symbols of protection and femininity in the central area while the borders along the vertical sides traditionally represent the male's presence. In Moroccan rugs, male motifs often appear on the outer portions of the composition, framing and enclosing the female motifs.
