About the Item

Vintage very large light tuareg floor mat – five meter. Vintage very large light tuareg floor mat – five meter. Tuareg rugs or flat weave mats are rare and very special, intricately made from fine grass reed and bound with goatskin or camel leather, each rug is hand made by the Tuareg tribes who live in desert regions of North Africa ? Niger, Mali, Libya, Algeria and Burkina Faso. The rugs were traditionally made to be light weight and transportable and were simply dyed using the limited vegetation and plants available. The Tuareg tribes of the Sahara are the originators of this rug. These tribes use reed, palm, and camel or goat skin to create their mats. This is a very large five meter vintage Tuareg mat, circa 1960’s, in exceptional condition. WORKSHOP REPORT Our workshop team inspect every product and carry out any needed repairs to ensure that everything leaves us serviced and maintained ready for many more years of life. All of our vintage products show the rich beauty and history of their life with the knocks and bumps of many years of use and we try to minimise restoration to keep every piece as original as possible.
