About the Item

This is Central Anatolian Antique Kilim from the Corum region with a rare and beautiful color composition. Corum has a long history as a base for Hittite ruins such as Hattusa, the capital of the ancient Hittites, Bogazkale, and Yazilikaya, and the terrain is characterized by high plateaus and intricate mountains, with some of the plateaus being irrigated, you can also see the scenery of wide meadows. One of the highlights of this masterpiece, which is made of two pieces, is the beauty of the joints. The entire surface is covered with patterns, and the colors are very diverse. Except for a few colors in the ground weave, many colors are evenly sprinkled on it, making it difficult to describe exactly what color it is. The madder-red orange of the ground weave is pale, gentle, and bright, and in some places it even has an earthy tone, which gives it a hint of pink, making it a unique and beautiful color that you won't find anywhere else. The whiteness of the woven fabric due to uneven dyeing, and the indigo that looks like washed denim, is a clear and very nice color. As you can see, the balance and compatibility between the orange, the beige/gray surrounding the interior, and the indigo hues are wonderful. The brown edging and white woven fabric also make the whole piece look clear and give it a bright contrast. Even though it is a vintage piece, it does not feel too heavy because it has gentle colors and is tightly woven with thin, well-twisted threads. You can see the quality of the wool in its smooth texture. Fields divided into squares filled with small geometric motifs and vivid, colorful colors are some of the major characteristics of his kilims from this region. However, the clear yet gentle colors and the unique three-layered top and bottom border are very original. This is a valuable masterpiece from a historic town.
