This exquisite Mudjur rug is a beautiful example of Turkish prayer rugs, renowned for their refined motifs and deep symbolic value. Woven in the small town of Mudjur in central Anatolia, it features a classic mihrab (prayer niche) design at its heart, emphasizing the rug’s original devotional purposes. The rich crimson field is framed by a stepped arch with a cypress-like floral motif, leading the eye upward in a spiritual ascent. The surrounding space, rendered in a soft sage green, is filled with stylized floral sprays and palmettes, highlighting the weaver’s skill and deep connection to nature. The borders alternate between floral and geometric designs in warm tones of ivory, gold, and brown, creating a perfect balance between detail and composition.
