Handknotted in Nepal by skilled artisans, this rug is crafted from a blend of wool and bamboo silk, with the pattern defined in natural linen. The combination of materials creates a rich surface where the softness of wool meets the gentle sheen of bamboo silk, while the linen lines introduce a more matte, textural contrast. Woven using the Tibetan knot at approximately 100 knots per square inch (circa 152,000 knots per square metre), it offers a precise and well-defined surface. Akana DGR presents an interplay of interlacing lines that define the composition, creating a continuous and measured rhythm across the surface. The geometry is structured yet softened by subtle irregularities, resulting in a balanced and cohesive visual presence. The contrast between the luminous ground and the more matte linear pattern enhances depth and definition, while tonal variations within the materials respond to changing light, giving the surface a quiet dynamism. Calm and precise, the design integrates seamlessly into both minimal architectural spaces and more layered interiors.
