About the Item

Red & Salmon Floral French Savonnerie Carpet Made in France, circa 1890 Set on a warm salmon ground, the design is dominated by an oversized stylized cartouche that encloses a pair of rose-toned circular floral medallions. This central motif is framed by a dusty rose primary border featuring interconnecting garlands of vines and flowers. Surrounding this are four decorative floral ground borders, finished with plain medium blue and gold outer borders that bring structure and balance to the overall composition. 33' 5" x 16' 0" (1019 x 488 cm)
