This oversized 11x15 antique Portuguese rug is a spectacular addition to Rug & Kilim’s Antique collection; a masterpiece of Iberian textile history, meticulously hand-knotted in wool and originating from Portugal circa 1900-1920. On the Design: This antique Portuguese rug is from the collection of Y & B Bolour, a museum-quality masterpiece commands absolute reverence as a triumph of traditional Portuguese workshop weaving, anchoring its remarkably balanced, neoclassical layout with a majestic central star medallion and geometricized floral palmettes. Rather than overcrowding the canvas with relentless botanical density, the generous breathing room surrounding each element preserves an open, breezy elegance that establishes a refined dialogue between formal European design principles and the naturalistic freedom of garden aesthetics.
