About the Item

Joaquim Tenreiro (1906-1992) Pair of "Concha" Armchairs, 1955 Solid wood and cotton fabric (Donatelli Publisher - Brazil) 73 x 80 x 70 cm 28 37/50 x 31 1/2 x 27 14/25 in This model, with a rather atypical design compared to Joaquim Tenreiro's style, is a response to the needs and desires of the mid-1950s. Its name, "Concha", the shell or shell, is an illustration of the shape of its backrest all in a smooth curve, with a soft and cozy comfort. This armchair wants to be a cocoon, a place conducive to relaxation and harmonious appeasement. This softness character is reinforced by its finish entirely covered with fabric, here white curly cotton fabric that perfectly suits his spirit. It rests lightly on four conical feet that highlight its airy appearance.
