About the Item

A fine carved and water gilded library armchair designed by Robert Adam and made by Thomas Chippendale for the Great Room at Arlington Street, London. The serpentine scrolled cresting is bordered with foliage, wrapped reeding and centres by a pierced anthemion cresting. The arms and seat are edged with husks, the arms carved with anthemia ending in sunflower double rosettes. The adapted and refined seat rail is carved with a central shell with trailing anthemia. The legs headed by anthemia issuing ribbon tied interlaced descending wreaths on hairy paw feet. Please note that we are currently working to a 30-36 week lead time and that this item is made to order.
