Ecume Armchair by Guillaume Chevalier Dimensions: D 76 x W 90 x H 75 cm. Materials: Solid American walnut and fabric. Handcrafted in France by Ateliers de Brimbois. Copies signed and numbered. Please contact us. The Ecume armchair stands in stark contrast to armchairs covered entirely in fabric, whose structure is no longer discernible. Here, the structure plays a full part in the aesthetics. The fabric backrest seems to drape over the walnut structure, bringing comfort to the wooden structure... Based between Lyon, France and New York, I am a French furniture and objets d'art designer, inspired by nature, architecture and my travel experiences. My work fuses arts and crafts with design. Craftsmanship skills are at the heart of my research, and for me they are a fundamental pillar in the design of a piece. With a background in cabinetmaking, a degree from the Institut Saint Luc in Belgium and a diploma in interior design from the Ecole Boulle, the knowledge I have acquired through my experiences in several renowned workshops enables me to bridge the gap between the designer's mind and the craftsman's hand. In 2022, I launched my own design studio to explore my growing creativity. Every piece I create is co-signed with master craftsmen, highlighting the importance of craftsmanship in my work.
