About the Item

Wonderful and unique French organic armchair entirely crafted from solid turned chestnut wood and completed by a hand-woven rush seat. This refined sculptural chair was produced in France during the 1930s. Fully original and in amazing vintage condition, with a marvelous natural patina and color. This stylish armchair features a striking frame entirely composed of beautifully turned solid chestnut elements, creating a rhythmic bobbin motif that gives the piece a distinctive architectural character. The generous square seat is expertly hand-woven in natural rush using a traditional diagonal pattern, adding warmth and a refined organic texture to the design. The perfect proportions and outstanding craftsmanship make this chair both decorative and highly functional. A one-of-a-kind armchair, perfect as an accent chair, desk chair, or occasional seat to elevate a French Provincial, Country, Colonial, Mediterranean, or contemporary organic interior. Dimensions (cm): Width: 43 Depth: 43 Height: 66 Seat Height: 36 'Cesca' chairs were produced by the prestigious Gavina spa company of San Lazzaro di Savena (Italy) at the end of the 1960s. Dino Gavina in 1968 in New York convinces Marcel Breuer to put his 1920s designs into production, including the Cesca chair, designed by Breuer in 1928. The chair's success was enormous and the market was then flooded with many more reproductions of far less quality which in any case have increased the prestige of owning the original specimens.
