About the Item

The Dalila armchair designed by Gaetano Pesce for Cassina is a striking reinterpretation of one of the designer’s most emblematic and artistically significant seating concepts. Developed by Cassina from the designer’s archive in collaboration with Studio Pesce, this contemporary outdoor version translates Pesce’s radical sculptural language into refined exterior living environments. Originally conceived in 1980 and reintroduced for use in 2025, Dalila stands as a true manifesto object, expressing Gaetano Pesce’s vision of design as a vehicle for individuality, emotion, and formal freedom. Inspired by the biblical story of Samson and Delilah, the design embodies the symbolic and sculptural force that defines some of Pesce’s most important works. This listing is for the version with arms in beige, offering a more enveloping and architectural presence. The addition of armrests enhances both comfort and visual structure, reinforcing the chair’s bold, monolithic character while maintaining its fluid, sinuous silhouette. The dark finish highlights the softness of the form and provides a warm, understated elegance, making it highly versatile for sophisticated outdoor dining and lounge settings. The chair is made of flexible polyurethane foam coated with a thin layer of colored elastomer, a material solution that ensures durability and comfort. A refined production technique minimizes visible joints, emphasizing the continuity, purity, and softness of the design. Please note that other available colors may be shown in the listing images; however, the item offered in this listing is the beige version shown in the first image. Please note that the blue color shown in the listing images has been digitally applied for presentation purposes. The actual chairs may vary in tone from what is shown on screen. Bold, collectible, and unmistakably expressive, the Dalila armchair with arms is ideal for collectors, architects, and interior designers seeking sculptural contemporary seating with strong artistic identity.
