Elegant pair of Art Deco bamboo armchairs handcrafted in China around 1920. These beautifully proportioned armchairs feature gracefully curved arms, an open architectural backrest and a light, airy frame that highlights the natural beauty of bamboo. Decorative woven details beneath the seats and finely executed joinery reflect the high level of craftsmanship characteristic of traditional Chinese bamboo furniture. China has a long and distinguished tradition of bamboo furniture making, where the material's remarkable strength, flexibility and natural elegance have been refined through centuries of skilled craftsmanship. This pair beautifully combines that heritage with the clean lines and balanced proportions associated with the Art Deco period. The chairs retain a warm honey-coloured patina that has developed naturally over time, enhancing the character of the bamboo while complementing both contemporary and traditional interiors.
