About the Item

Frames circa 1830 - with later leather upholstery. Note: Leather is imported from Germany, high quality soft leather. A handsome pair of Georgian era armchairs, each retaining an elegant carved wood frame with a restrained architectural profile, squared high back, shaped open arms, and tapering legs joined by low stretchers. The exposed mahogany frames display neoclassical carved ornament, including reeded and fluted supports, fan and shell-carved terminals, and circular floral paterae to the arm supports, giving the chairs a refined late 18th to early 19th century character. The chairs are upholstered in warm two-tone peach leather with close nailhead trim following the seat rails, arm terminals, and lower upholstery edges, emphasizing the crisp geometry of the Georgian form. The backsides are finished in a slightly darker leather, providing a subtle tonal contrast when viewed from the rear. With their high backs, generous seats, carved mahogany detailing, brass nailhead decoration, and classic library chair proportions, the pair would suit a study, drawing room, library, or formal seating arrangement. Measurements: 39" h (back), 26.5" h (arm), 18.75" h (seat), 26" w (arm to arm), 26" d.
