About the Item

Handsome pair of sling armchairs designed by Bruce Hannah and Andrew Morrison circa 1971 for Knoll International, Inc. This pair is in wonderful vintage condition. The blue vinyl sling is soft with no visible flaws. The black frame does have some scuffs, nicks, and chips (on the back) to the powder coat but in over-all terrific condition. The black and navy blue make a stunning combination on this iconic pair of lounge chairs. They were designed by the collaboration of Pratt Institute alumnus Bruce Hannah and Andrew Morrison for Knoll International, where they were both employed at the time. This award-winning and innovative aluminum-frame lounge seating system was introduced in 1971 and was purportedly inspired by the extruded aluminum of a sailboat mast. This pair have their original label underneath the seat and retain their original blue vinyl upholstery and black powder coat finish over their aluminum frame. I know you love this handsome pair. By KI Krueger International, Giancarlo Piretti

Excellent set of eight black Torsion dining chairs designed by Giancarlo Piretti for KI. There are seven arm chairs and one side chair. They are in wonderful vintage condition with minor wear that you would expect with age. Please see photos, circa 1995. In 1997 Giancarlo Piretti received an award for his Torsion seating collection. These chairs are part of that collection. Designed and made initially and primarily for commercial purpose they are extremely comfortable and flexible. They are lightweight and stackable. This set has an attractive textured high impact black plastic seat, back, and arms on chrome legs. No one expects this chair have the comfort it provides. The back flexes. This flex is achieved with the torsion mechanism which creates gradually increasing resistance. They were designed for comfort during long meetings or lectures.
