About the Item

These two armchairs perfectly embody the spirit of 1950s Italian midcentury, with that blend of sculptural elegance and lightness typical of the finest Milanese design. The high, winged backrest (pronounced wingback) opens into generous, theatrical, almost architectural curves, creating a protective and monumental embrace, reminiscent of Gio Ponti's graphic signatures. The wide, sculpted armrests descend with sinuous grace, creating a refined contrast between full volume and elusive lines. The low, deep seat invites refined relaxation, typical of designer lounge chairs of the period. The slender, slightly inclined, conical brass legs visually lighten the ensemble with their almost calligraphic precision. The overall effect conveys a discreet, never overt luxury, suspended between tradition and modernity. The influence of Gio Ponti is evident (especially his bergères for ISA Bergamo), but also a more sculptural touch that could be traced back to Minoletti or other post-war Milanese masters. An object that furnishes a room even when turned off, with its silent and aristocratic presence. Perfect in a contemporary, minimalist interior or a period Milanese apartment.
