About the Item

A commanding pair of lounge chairs designed by Peter Marino, presented here in exceptional renewed condition following a thorough restoration. The chairs are upholstered throughout in deeply grained black Edelman leather, pebbled in texture and consistent in color. Brass nailhead trim runs in closely spaced rows along the apron, back panel, and arm joins. The nailheads read in a warm antique brass tone that holds its own against the near-matte black of the leather without competing for attention. The architectural frames have been refinished as originalyl in high-gloss black lacquer, its surface providing a deliberate contrast to the tactile grain of the upholstery. Legs terminate in bronze sabots that repeat the warm metal note of the nailheads and anchor the overall composition. The silhouette is characteristically Marino in its resolved tension between classical club chair proportion and a harder, more urban materiality: rolled arms, a generous loose-cushion back, and a deep seat paired with a frame that reads more as furniture architecture than casual seating. The back view reveals the full nailhead perimeter treatment, which wraps the leather panel inside a lacquer surround a detail as considered from behind as from the front. These chairs would add a striking architectural element to any interior.
