About the Item

This elegant Danish Modern armchair by Erik Wørts for Soro Stolefabrik showcases the refined craftsmanship and timeless proportions that defined 1960s Danish design. Crafted in rich, beautifully grained rosewood, the chair features a sculptural, slightly reclined backrest with a gently curved top rail and supportive armrests that flow seamlessly from the frame. The seat and back are upholstered in supple black leather, providing luxurious comfort and a sleek contrast to the warm rosewood. Erik Wørts was a respected Danish designer known for his clean, ergonomic seating that balanced aesthetic purity with everyday functionality. His work for Soro Stolefabrik emphasized high-quality materials and meticulous joinery, resulting in pieces that remain highly sought after by collectors today. Soro Stolefabrik (also known as Sorø Stolefabrik), located in Sorø, Denmark, was a well-regarded furniture manufacturer specializing in high-quality wooden chairs and seating during the mid-20th century. The company produced many classic Danish Modern designs and was known for its solid craftsmanship and collaboration with talented designers like Wørts. Versatile and sophisticated, this rosewood and leather armchair functions beautifully as a captain’s chair at the head of a dining table, a desk chair in a home office, or as elegant accent seating in a living room or study. Its compact scale and refined presence make it ideal for both classic Danish Modern and contemporary interiors. A handsome and collectible example of 1960s Danish Modern design by Erik Wørts for Soro Stolefabrik. ---Dimensions--- Width: 23.5 in / 59.69 cm Depth: 23.5 in / 59.69 cm Height: 31.25 in / 79.38 cm Seat Height: 17.5 in / 44.45 cm Arm Height: 24.5 in / 62.23 cm This extraordinary set of Danish-made armchairs has recently undergone a complete, exhaustive restoration process and the results speak for themselves.
