About the Item

This unusual late 18th Century French Banc De Chimney/Fire Place Bench features a scrolling top rail, resting on four block feet with pegged construction. The arms, curved halfway, end in scrolls while a long carved apron joins both front legs, giving it the appearance of a chest. The high planked seat presents notches and irregularities that adding even more charm to the piece. This French bench, dates to around 1790, The storage under neath would have been for kindling.
