About the Item

The traditional metal clad furniture he found in India inspired renowned designer Paul Mathieu to create this elegant and curvaceous storage bench. The arcing sides and top of this piece are hand carved from solid pieces of teak. The hinged lid opens to reveal a removable inset tray. Pattern makers trace and cut complex forms that will cover the bench from thick sheets of copper, brass or white bronze. Once the bench is joined together, it is meticulously encased in a tight fitting skin of white bronze, copper or brass. The metal finish will tarnish over time, but regular non-abrasive household metal polish can be used to restore the original luster. Vaisseau Bench in White Metal over Teak Size- 36" x 16" x 17"H Materials - White Metal, Teak, Cast, Hand-Crafted Please note that moisture in air, sudden change in temperature and natural movement of wood over time causes the metal to wrinkle or bubble up. We use well seasoned, reclaimed teak and high quality marine grade MDF (wherever technically possible) to avoid and delay the above mentioned changes. However a perfect stability of metal cannot be guaranteed. Buyer Cancellation- The cancellation charge is 25% which increases to 50% if the production is started.
