About the Artist: In His Own Words "After practicing sculpture ranging from figurative art to minimalist assemblages, a few years ago I returned to my early professional commitments, resuming the path of metalwork that I had never really abandoned. Trained partly by industry and even more so by my own research, I felt the desire to return to this craft based on images and impressions gleaned during my travels in the world of contemporary art. In this universe teeming with forms and ideas, critical eyes deeply question the status of objects and materials visited by the artist's gesture. This state of mind, between contemplation, action, and questioning, has remained my philosophy for a practice now applied in the field of art furniture. The functional aspect of furniture no longer presents me with a constraint, a certain heaviness in its engineering, but rather a challenge rewarded by the dual presence, both aesthetic and practical, of a piece of furniture that is deeply rooted in reality, proximity, and even sensuality in a physical encounter that is absent in art that cannot be touched. If the viewer is to be surprised by the uniqueness and beauty, the artist must work to surprise himself in order to be able to share this feeling of discovery and freedom." — Frederic Gaillard
