Edoardo Landi "540" dining chairs for Nikol International, wood and white fabric, Italy, 1973, set of two Edoardo Landi designed the “540” dining chair in 1973, at a time when Italian design was redefining its language through geometry, structure, and restraint. The design is built around a strong architectural frame in solid wood with a warm, natural finish, where visible grain and knots become part of the chair’s identity. Squared legs and a rigid, almost monolithic stance give the structure a grounded presence, while the tall, tapering backrest rises with a sharp, controlled profile. The white fabric upholstery introduces a clean visual counterpoint, softening the composition without diluting its graphic strength.
