About the Item

Nice set of four black "Cobra" chairs designed by Giotto Stoppino during the 1970s. Composed of a tubular structure in chrome metal, winding from the base to the seat and backrest. The seat and back are foam covered in black leatherette. The set is in good original condition. Born 1926, Giotto Stoppino was one of the most relevant representative of the Italian Space Age movement. He worked as an architect but mostly as a designer, making objects and furniture in colored plastic and chromed metal, the materials most in vogue in the 1970s.His main creations are definitely tables, chairs and armchairs in chromed metal, often with sinuous and almost organic shapes. The current chairs, for example, have been named "Cobra" because their structure resembles the elegant Indian snake.
