About the Item

Rare and incredibly iconic “Sloucher” sling chair by furniture Don Shoemaker for Senal S.A. This chair was originally part of a pair that were in a house fire. This piece has been carefully restored from the ground up using vintage bridle leather in our Colorado studio by our principal designer Alec Broughton. The missing pegs have been remade ad hand turned out of new, Cocobolo wood blanks. The chair's frame was meticulously taken apart, stripped of the soot-covered finish, and refinished with a Low VOC hardwax oil finish to highlight the chairs beautifully striated Cocobolo wood grain. Don Shoemaker designed this piece to be assembled with the minimal amount of hardware, opting for wooden pegs to secure the frame together. Condition is Good (9.5/10). This is a handmade item, and as such has imperfections in its construction that we believe add to its value. Expect minor scratches to the leather sling, variances in the stitching form our industrial machine, wear consistent with age, etc. *Last image is for aesthetics only.
