About the Item

Elegant pair of brass chairs inspired by Neoclassical and Hollywood Regency designs. Brass frame, cast brass ornament, upholstered seat. Each chair features a slender brass frame with tapering legs joined by stretchers, a shaped upholstered seat covered in a red patterned fabric, and an elaborate openwork back centered by a cast brass medallion depicting two dancing classical female figures in high relief, framed by scrolling acanthus ornament and rocaille-inspired motifs. The refined silhouette, decorative classical iconography, and gilt-metal finish evoke Italian decorative furnishings of the 1950s–1970s, reflecting the continued popularity of neoclassical themes in mid-century interior design. The chairs combine ornamental appeal with a light, elegant structure suitable for use as occasional seating, bedroom chairs, or decorative accent pieces. Good overall vintage condition. The brass surfaces show oxidation, scattered wear, scratches, and areas of rubbing consistent with age and use. One decorative side scroll element on a backrest is broken and detached/lost (see detail photograph). Upholstery appears later and remains generally presentable with minor wear and slight discoloration. Structurally stable.
