About the Item

Panda chair by Melis Tatlicibasi. Materials: White velvet upholstery, Laquered natural Oak. Dimensions: W 40 x D 50 x H 90 cm. The Panda Collection is a Minimalist work with some far eastern touches. Inspired by the shy and playful characteristics of pandas, it is aimed to immortalize the pandas under protection in this collection. In addition to choosing the colors of the furniture in black and white with using geometric shapes, a panda perception was imagined to be created by adding simplicity with a modern look. The collection consist of 4 pieces with chair, lounge chair, coffee table and complementary lighting. These products were designed to symbolize to be a panda clan. A light guiding them was conceived with the giant panda, female panda and baby pandas. Square shapes in the light refer to strength and balance. Therefore a small panda familly has come to life in this collection forever. The Panda Collection is handcrafted with jet-black matte laquered natural wood frames and off-white matte laquered with circular dished parts. White velvet upholstery usage in chair and lounge chair provide for elegant touch and finish panda look. The jet black matte laquered and off-white circular wood parts used in the coffee tables legs with dark fume tempered glass. For the lighting; dark grey laser cut metal used for the shell and epoxy glass box inside with led lighting. I Melis Tatlicibasi form Turkey, am an Interior Designer. She graduated from Yasar University of Izmir in 2017 and also hold a degree of Master of Interior Design from Florence Design Academy in Italy. My interest in Furniture Design was initiated by my Arts History Lecturer who asked us to design a piece of furniture inspired by a famous architect. I designed a desk lamp inspired by Le Corbusier's "Fountain House” which was greatly acclaimed by my superiors and was elected for the Academy Exhibition. This has triggered the passion in me for furniture design. I worked with group of talented craftsmen and upholsterer. I was ready to present my collection with the help of the Grikart Photography team. This is how I immortalized the panda, which has a special place in my life and the cloud lounge chair gave me the opportunity to bring the clouds to our living spaces.
