About the Item

Introducing a rare side chair attributed to Knud Færch for Slagelse Møbelvaerk in stunning original condition. Featuring incredible joinery, a solid teak construction and the original fabric this chair is ideal for collectors searching for the perfect desk chair or stand alone accent chair. Save for a minor joint repair made in the 1980's, this chair is in stunning original condition. The sculpted back rest, carved from solid Burmese teak, is replete with stunning variegated woodgrains. The original upholstery, in a fabulous vintage-feeling vibrant green cotton blend fabric, shines brightly and offsets the warm teak wood tones. Most known for his iconic "Cow Horn" chair, renowned Danish furniture designer, Knud Færch was a titan of Danish design in the 1950s. Due to the complexity of Færch's designs, limited numbers of his chairs were produced, making provenance often difficult to attain. The chair remains unmarked, thus we must attribute the chair to Færch. Slagelse Møbelvaerk was a well respected furniture maker and co-owned by the influential Alfred Christensen, who designed and produced the now iconic "Boomerang" chair for Slagelse. With its beautiful mortising and complicated curved lines of the backrests make this chair a genuine piece of craftsmanship, with a unique elegance and a consummate finish that has stood the test of time like something truly loved and cared for. Ideal as a stand alone accent chair or behind a desk this architecturally stunning chair can blend seamlessly against a myriad of design backdrops from Mid-Century Modern to Atomic to Contemporary and everything in between. Truly unlike any chair design we've seen before, this flawlessly designed and crafted piece won't last long. Make it yours today before it's gone forever. ---Dimensions--- Width: 18.5 in / 46.99 cm Depth: 18.5 in / 46.99 cm Height: 30.5 in / 77.47 cm Seat Height: 17.5 in / 44.45 cm This elegantly designed and crafted side chair, attributed to Knud Færch, is in stunning original, vintage condition. The solid teak frame and legs show only minimal signs of wear with light nicks and a minor joint repair made by the previous owner (shown in the detail photos provided) but showing no stains, cracks, or deep scratches. The variegated woodgrains too are absolutely stunning in natural light. The original polyester cotton blend fabric shows only minor areas of light discoloration which can be seen in the detail photos and natural light video provided and shows no odors, tears or other wear whatsoever. This extraordinary chair is incredibly comfortable, structurally solid and ready for a literal lifetime more of use thanks to years of meticulous care by the previous owner. Please view all photos and natural light video provided for details on this chair's current condition. We're limited on the amount of media we can post so additional photos and videos are available upon request.
