About the Item

Pair of Mid-Century high back dining chairs designed by Walter Antonis, produced for Hennie de Jong International Collections in the 1980s. Each chair combines red fabric on the tall, tapered backrest with a heathered tweed seat cushion, both set on a black enameled wire sled base with a clean geometric profile. The angular wire frame reads as spare and deliberate, keeping the visual weight low while the tall back commands attention. Antonis originally designed this model, known as the Se10, for 't Spectrum, the respected Dutch furniture manufacturer. Following a reorganization at Spectrum in 1974, Antonis retained rights to his own designs and re-released the Se10 through Hennie de Jong International Collections in updated colorways during the 1980s. The design reflects the functional clarity that characterized Dutch modernist furniture of the postwar decades. The chairs retain their original upholstery and show wear consistent with age and use. Sold as a pair.
