About the Item

An 18th century armchair, originally a commode chair with elegant ribbon back and shaped arms with deep shaped skirt rails on the front and sides. The rush seat lifts up with a small leather tab to a flat wood surface. Raised on square legs splayed in back. The chair has been reconfigured with an added wood platform to hold the seat. Dimensions: 37 1/2" H x 22 3/4" W x 20 1/2" D x 18" H seat Condition: Wear, stains and losses especially to feet and back of right side frame, some nicks and scuffs on the frame and rush losses to the seat commensurate with age. Good joinery and presenting in an authentic Antique manner.
