Set of 2 Marie-Antoinette matrice chairs by Plumbum Dimensions: 25.60" x 25.60"x H 33.47" Materials: Gold painted steel, pink velvet. Also available in other colors and sizes. Marie Antoinette Matrice's side chair is a side chair designed around the imprint. The imprint is created by the interaction between two materials, a ductile and a soft one. Inspiration from Gabriele Basilico's chair print photography. Matrice side chair is a steel corset compressing a velvet fleece, an organic, carnal form, compressed by a wire mesh. The interaction of two antagonistic materials reminds us of the poetry of blown glass, the bodice on the waist, the imprint left on the body by the wicker chairs. We tried to give the seat a feeling of comfort, both visually and in its use. The iconic Chesterfield sofa quickly became a reference to be summoned. Matrice is a reinterpretation, a sensitive statement of its imprint: the upholstery here is turned over like a glove, revealing the wire mesh structure. The latter forms a corset compressing the softness of the seat and backrest to give it an organic geometry. The handmade Matrice joins the French National Furniture collection in May 2020 to decorate embassies and ministries. At a time when we are forced to slow down, crafts appear as a way forward, where we create less but better. This trend is cultivated by Plumbum with an emphasis on pieces with a high density of soul, poetic, high-quality craftsmanship, and noble materials. By inspiring and using the wealth of heritage and local craftsmanship, Plumbum designs original pieces in innovative materials, from furniture to objects, in collaboration with contemporary designers. Art of living and art of doing together to offer customizable numbered signed collections and bespoke pieces between territorial heritage and delicacy of styles. Our carpentry & granite terrazzo workshops based near Toulouse are complemented by a solid network of South of France craftsmen with multiple skills to meet your needs while maintaining a single contact (upholstery, EPVart foundry, locksmithing, .).
