Set of 2 purple Cielo stacking chair with armrest by Sebastian Herkner Materials: galvanized and powder-coated tubular steel. PVC strings are made from recycled plastic. Technique: made from recycled plastic and weaved by local craftspeople in Cartagena, Colombia. Dimensions: W 60 x D 51.4 x H 78 cm Also available colors: brown, mint/ black, black-black, olive/ menta, purple/ carne, honey/ menta. The Cielo Stacking Armchair is a light, versatile and comfortable design by Sebastian Herkner. It’s ready for indoor and outdoor use and a great choice to create inspired seating arrangements on a terrace or in the living room. Available in various color combinations, the stackable chair can also add personality to dining areas of restaurants or hotels. Like the daybed and lounge chairs of the collection, the colors and look are inspired by Sebastian’s visits to Colombia. There, he not only immersed himself in the culture and beauty of the country but also met the local Ames artisans and learned about their traditional weaving techniques. Each armchair is made in Santa Marta, a city on the Caribbean coast of Colombia, by local craftspeople. They weave the PVC strings, which are made from recycled plastic, around a powder-coated tubular steel frame. The weaving technique the artesanos and artesanas use are called Momposino, a traditional method known for intricate patterns. Just the preparation of all the materials takes ten days, while the production of each armchair takes three days. German designer Sebastian Herkner is a long-term collaborator of Ames and has visited Colombia multiple times to experience the country’s cities, nature and people first hand. He also visited many of the ateliers that Ames has partnered with to learn about the unique traditional crafts of Colombia's regions. A sought-after contemporary designer and recipient of many industry awards, he has worked with many international design brands, creating intriguing pieces that showcase his intuition for interesting material, color, and texture combinations.
