About the Item

Introducing a rare set of Danish-made dining chairs designed by the incomparable Ib Kofod-Larsen for Selig. Constructed from frames of solid beech, stained walnut, this incredibly rare set of dining chairs features new leather upholstery cut from a genuine Italian leather hide in a rich tobacco tone. The frames, left in excellent original condition, feature the audacious lines, curves and complexity Larsen became famous for. With exquisite details like the brass backrest fasteners and the hand-stitched leather seats and backrests this extraordinary set of dining chairs is ideal for both collectors and designers alike searching for an authentic set of Larsen dining chairs that are ready for a lifetime more of use. Ib Kofod-Larsen was a venerated architect who formed part of a movement known as Danish Modern. Larsen was a purist and considered himself as more of an artisan than an architect or designer and his extensive catalog is proof of that. He was respected for having an exceptional understanding of materials and an eye for the potential of the wood and the quality of the raw materials he used. He often worked in different types of wood – mainly teak and palisander in combination with real leather which led us to re-upholster this set in an authentic Italian leather hide. Today, Ib Kofod-Larsen is called one of the most underrated - but most exciting - names on the Danish design scene. He had a successful career in the 50s and 60s - when Danish design was flourishing across the world. He drew, sculpted, made prototypes, was involved in production and participated in the entire process down to every test and launch. He was a creative designer, maybe one of the greatest designers in the golden age of Danish design. He took an innovative approach. Not just to furniture, but to ways of thinking about furniture and this intention is on full display with this exceptional set of architecturally stunning chairs. Elegantly shaped, expertly restored and ultra rare this set of dining chairs by Kofod-Larsen are the very epitome of "one-of-a-kind". Able to blend seamlessly against a myriad of design backdrops from Mid-Century Modern to Contemporary to Boho Chic this set is ideal for those who are limited in space but unwilling to compromise on style. Make them yours today before they're truly gone forever. ---Dimensions--- Width: 19.25 in / 48.9 cm Depth: 20 in / 50.8 cm Height: 28.75 in / 73.03 cm Seat Height: 17.5 in / 44.45 cm This visually arresting set of rare Kofod-Larsen dining chairs has recently undergone a comprehensive restoration process. The solid beech wood frames and legs have been left in original condition showing only minor signs of vintage wear such as light nicks and scratches as well as minor chips (the worst of which can be seen in the detail photos provided) but showing no stains, cracks or other damage whatsoever. As purists, we strive to leave all of our pieces in as original condition as possible. However we do offer restoration services and a full carpentry shop which can professionally sand and refinish the beech wood on each chair. If this service interests you please message us prior to checkout to discuss options and pricing. Note* This service can require up to 12-14 days of lead time. The upholstery, redone in a fabulous genuine Italian leather hide with character-rich tobacco tones, is in new never-sat-in condition and also features new medium density foam for maximum comfort and longevity. The leather shows only the wear of a once living animal (ranch brands, scars etc.). This stunning set of dining chairs is incredibly comfortable, structurally solid and ready for a literal lifetime more of use thanks to their recent restoration process. Please view all photos and natural light video provided for details on this set's current condition. We're limited on the amount of media we can post so additional photos and videos are available upon request.
