About the Item

This gorgeous set of 4 dining chairs was designed by Poul Volther – one of the icons of Danish Design of 20th Century. Known as SAKS model it is a great example Volther’s fantastic talent as a furniture architect – beautiful in form yet comfortable and functional. This chair is for you who love Danish craftsmanship and want to combine timeless design with optimal seating comfort. This set of 4 pieces was gently restored – oak bases were cleaned and finished with oil, while the seatings were reupholstered in high quality fabric from Nya Nordiska brand (composition: 30% cotton 25% wool 20% acrylic 15% polyester 10% silk). Poul M. Volther (1923-2001) belongs to a generation of popular Danish architects who have deep roots in good craftsmanship. Poul M. Volther’s style was based on Scandinavian functionalism, which with a modern twist found a middle ground between the Bauhaus style and the classical, practical work. In doing so, he avoided being caught up in various short-lived trends, where he instead designed works that could keep people spellbound by their beauty across time.
