Wired outdoor chair by Michael Young Dimensions: W 50 x D 51.7 x H 77.5 cm Materials: Powder Coated Metal structure The Wired Chair by Michael Young is a proud tribute to Harry Bertoia’s iconic design. This updated take on a classic piece is crafted from the same industrial material — steel wire, but in a matt finish — bent into organic shapes that suggest the veins of a leaf. Sharp angles are rounded off and colours turn softer to evoke tranquillity. Graphical and light, the design fits in comfortably with any decor, both indoors and outdoors. Available in two versions — four legs or two sled legs —, this chair is sure to become a cherished element in both residential and contract interiors. “One of the world’s most incredible chair designs is Bertoia’s Wire chair, which was a major inspiration for me as a young designer. During the 90s, I spent a lot of time experimenting with steel wire when I was working in Tom Dixon’s studio; and it always fascinated me. This chair was essentially born of one of my experiments with building seat structures. And the stunning design that came out of it is only a gratifying part of this process.” Michael Young Michael Young is a world-renowned British designer. He founded his namesake studio — Michael Young Studio (MYS) — in Britain in 1994. After nearly a decade working across the UK and Iceland, Michael was enticed to Asia by his passion for pioneering technology, and in 2006 set up a studio in Hong Kong. Michael Young is known in the industry as a sophisticated minimalist. His elegant, pared-down aesthetic designs have regularly earned him international awards and his work is featured in the collections of prestigious museums and galleries, including the Louvre, the Centre Pompidou and the Victoria & Albert Museum. Today, MYS is considered one of the most exciting and formidable design companies operating in Asia. The studio focuses on exploring the unique technological potential to create contemporary designs that reflect the times, and constantly challenging the boundaries of experimental design La Manufacture is a brand where design and fashion collide.
