About the Item

An exceptional and rare adjustable invalid daybed by the renowned Carters (J. & A.) Ltd. of London, specialists in high-quality medical and hospital furniture during the late Victorian and Edwardian periods. This elegant daybed features its original mahogany frame, mounted on brass castors, and is fitted with the original mechanical crank system allowing both the backrest and leg section to be adjusted independently for maximum comfort. The original maker's plaque is still present, confirming its authenticity. The daybed retains its charming tartan upholstery with decorative tassels, making it equally suitable as a statement piece in a traditional interior, library, gentleman's room, boutique hotel or luxury retail space.
