Set of twelve dining chairs, velvet, walnut, Italy, 1940s These 1940s Italian dining chairs reflect the discreet opulence and elegance characteristic of Italian design in the mid-20th century. The form is defined by a tall, tapering backrest that swells gently at the shoulders into a soft, winged contour, reminiscent of the human form. The deep green velvet upholstery envelops the form with a muted luster, its texture emphasizing the chair’s sinuous curvature. A fringe of matching green cord further enhances its graceful look. The walnut legs, delicately turned and contoured, articulate the craftsmanship of the period while grounding the chair with graceful poise. Kindly note that the fabric is in good, used condition with signs of age and use, including wear marks. Reupholstery can be done before shipping by our experienced craftspeople in our own in-house restoration atelier. With high attention for the original, they make sure every piece retains its value and is ready for the many years to come.
