About the Item

1950’s French Luterma Cross Base Bentwood Dining Chairs. The process of steam bending beech to create elegant chairs was discovered and developed by Thonet, but when its patents expired in 1869 many companies including Luterma launched production. Luterma was one of the brands marketed by Estonian factory A.M. Luther which was founded in the late 19th Century in Tallinn. These chairs date from the 1950’s, an unusual shape developed for use in Churches and public buildings. We love the slightly shaker look and the confident cross base. Not marked Luterma but we are confident they are. We service and wax each chair before it leaves our workshop and we deliver chairs of excellent quality. Seat Height: 46cm.
